Reopening April 17, 2025
Just a few steps away from the old Lovero bridge - the stream separates the Swiss Val Bregaglia from the Italian Val Chiavenna - lies the Ristorante Garni Post, which has been a meeting place for locals and an inn for visitors since it was built in 1882. It has a terrace, bar and dining room on the ground floor and five rooms with shared bathrooms on the second floor. Prices vary between CHF 60 and CHF 150 and include an Italian breakfast.
Until a few years ago, the owners Angela and Davide Gianotti ran the popular hotel, but in 2021 and 2022 the young Bergell landlady Alice Huber was the hostess. During the 2024 summer season, the motto was «Pop up Pöstli». Stefan Keller opened the house with limited opening hours and a limited range of cultural and culinary events. The new owner, Fondazione ProPosta, is planning a renovation in fall 2025. Until then, «Das Pöstli - Ristorante Garni Post» will once again be run by host Stefan Keller. The rooms will be available from 17 April to 20 October 2025. From Pentecost, the Bar/Osteria will be open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and often outside of these times. Until Pentecost, local Esther Schön will be in charge of the Bar/Osteria at irregular intervals. The «Sleep in Switzerland - breakfast in Italy» concept will also apply in 2025: Bar Rossi, just 100 metres away on foot, serves cappuccino and brioche early in the morning.
